This project aims to port Linux to the PowerPC 403GA 32-bit RISC Embedded Controller.

The initial port is to the NCD ExploraPro X-terminal, which is interesting to us as it:

• is small,
• uses low power (19 watts),
• has in-built 10BaseT Ethernet,
• has a PCMCIA slot and
• boots from the network.

This work is based in a large part on other ports of Linux to embedded processors, in particular:

• Linux/MicroController Project (port to MMU-less Motorola 68k/CPU32 family microcontrollers)
• uCLinux/ColdFire -- Source (port to MMU-less Motorola ColdFire microcontrollers)
• Linux/PPC on Embedded Systems (ports to PPC 8xx series embedded controllers with MMUs)
• Linux/PPC
